Plate discrepancies

Significant discrepancies exist among standard plates available on the market, as far as the positioning tolerances of the markers are concerned (required range: +/- 20 µm - most common range: +/- 50 µm)

By applying accurate production standards the positioning tolerances of the markers can be highly improved (held within +/- 20 µm).

Different kinds of plates

  • Criticality

The plates available on the market may differ greatly depending on their thickness, dimension, color, hardness, graphic elements, markers, etc.. and also according to their cleanliness, in the case of the used ones.
These differences may have a considerable impact on the mounting procedure and on the devices to be used.

  • Solution No.1

An algorithm for the search and analysis of the markers is capable of precisely identifying the plates, independently from the characteristics of the plates.

  • Solution No.2

A special suction system is capable of securely picking up the plate without damaging it and keeping it perfectly flat during the moving and positioning operation.

 

Bent edges

  • Criticality

Plates that have been used time and time again frequently have their edges bent.
In this case the following two problems arise: difficulty in picking up the plates from the drawers and deformation of the image of the marker picked up by the camera

  • Solution

BiesSse Solution can use any type of plate even if its edges are badly bent.
This is made possible by a composite system guiding the plate onto the drawer and by a special device which picks up the plate and takes it to the working area.
In order to correctly de-codify the markers, a special system has been designed to flatten out the plate during the reading phase of the camera.

De-codification and plate check

It may happen that operators load plates that are meant for different orders or colours and mount them by mistake.
This can lead to print a defective material with consequent financial loss for the printer and for the end-user.

  • Solution

The TPMM features a very efficient plate de-codification system by QR-Code, RFID and Bar Code, which prevents the mounting of wrong plates and doesn’t require any supervision by the operator.

Plate lifting

  • Criticality

The edges of the plates may lift from the sleeve when the print area covers also the extreme edges of the plate.
In this case several related problems ensue that may even lead to a break-down of the printer.

  • Solution

To avoid the lifting of the edges of the plate, it is essential to take advantage ad much as possible of the adhesion features of the tape. Adhesive tapes are sensitive to pressure and therefore the greater the pressure, the more the adhesion power.
